The Magnificent Milan InterContinental Hotel is centrally located in Victoria Island Lagos on the popular Kofo Abayomi Street.
At the height of 100m it has dwarfed all the buildings in Victoria Island Lagos and set to be the tallest hotel in Nigeria and is now one of the iconic symbols of Victoria Island Lagos.
The Milan Intercontinental Hotel is a 25-Storey structure that includes two basements of more than 10m below the ground level. The construction of the main structure was therefore a special challenge especially as the hotel was being built in an already built-up environment.
Beside the 1000mm thick diaphragm wall that was built on the perimeter of the site as retaining wall for more than 10m deep basement, special expertise was deployed to offer additional support to the diaphragm walls during the excavation of the basement and the completion of all the structural works below the ground level.
The building sits comfortably on deep rooted piles and over 3000mm thick average raft foundation. The two level basements is designed to accommodate up to 300 cars.
